Faithful Navigator’s Corner – July 2023
Bill Smith
Here is a little bit about me. I have been a resident of Hunterdon County since 1964 where I have been a homebuilder for over 50 years and raised our three daughters. This September, my wife Diane and I will celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary.
I joined the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Lourdes Council #6930 in 1982 and joined the 4th Degree Patriotic Unit the following year. Currently, I am an active parishioner at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Pittstown. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to help establish several Councils including St. Joseph’s Council #10627, St. Rocco’s in Martin’s Creek PA #14082 and St. Catherine of Siena Council Pittstown #15217 and helped restart St. Magdalen’s Jubilee Council #3294 and Immaculate Conception Annandale Council #6245.
Serving in the US Army from 1958-1964 began my appreciation for all veterans.
In the 1980s Our Lady of Lourdes Council and I began visiting veterans at Lyons Hospital. We spent time in conversation, card games and prayer. I want to continue to show my support for all veterans by our annual summer picnic and Christmas celebration at Veterans North in Glen Gardner.
I look forward to working with all of my Brother Knights to achieve these goals.
