Go for the Fourth!

Fourth Degree membership in the Knights of Columbus is the completion of the knighthood conferred at the Third Degree. Fourth Degree members (“Sir Knights”) must remain in good standing with their councils as well as with the Assembly.

Membership in the Fourth Degree is open to any Third Degree knight in good standing. Although we can only recruit at our affiliated councils, a member can join any Assembly he wishes.

A Fourth Degree exemplification is held twice each year, once in the Spring (usually April) and once in the Fall (October or November). The next exemplification will be on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at The “New” LaNeve’s, 276 Belmont Avenue, Haledon, New Jersey. The spring exemplification will be held on April 21, 2024, at the Sheraton Parsippany Hotel in Parsippany, New Jersey.

Interested candidates should contact any Assembly member to obtain the official membership document (Form 4) which he must then complete and sign. The form must be endorsed by the Financial Secretary of the candidate’s council and then submitted to the Assembly together with the candidate’s check for $70 payable to “Pope John Paul II Assembly”(plus $60 for each additional dinner guest).

On the day of the exemplification, all candidates must be in possession of a VALID (CURRENT SIGNED) 3rd Degree Card, and it MUST be shown at registration. All candidates should know the NAME and NUMBER of the ASSEMBLY they are joining, since registration is in Assembly order.

Dress Code for Candidates is as follows: BLACK or MIDNIGHT BLUE TUXEDO, WHITE SHIRT with LAY DOWN COLLAR, (NO WING TIPS OR RUFFLES), BLACK BOW TIE, BLACK SHOES and SOCKS. CUMBERBUND MUST BE BLACK. A dark suit may also be worn.

Priests – Black Dress suit and Roman Collar. Police – Dress Uniform, Paid Firemen – Dress Uniform, Active Military – Dress Uniform.
